Apple Picking Season in Michigan. Beautiful Fall Color to See and a Covered Wagon Ride Into the Orchard I think hubby and I enjoyed the last nice weekend that Michigan will see for quite some time, by spending the afternoon at the apple orchard taking in the sights and picking a 1/2 bushel of apples.

Apple Picking Season in Michigan. Beautiful Fall Color to See and a Covered Wagon Ride Into the Orchard The orchard we visited is locally owned and even has organic apples (which is rare in our parts). The organic apples have thicker skins and not every apple is perfect like you see in the store but that doesn’t matter to me they all taste the same no matter what they look like.

Apple Picking Season in Michigan. Beautiful Fall Color to See and a Covered Wagon Ride Into the Orchard It was a beautiful sunny day with bright blue skies and big puffy clouds. We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather. After purchasing our 1/2 bushel bag we had the option of riding in the covered wagon or walking into the orchard. We chose to walk and enjoy nature along the way.

We found a new variety this year that we’ve never tasted. The flavor was a cross between a lemon and an apple.

I think it could even be my new favorite apple. Don’t hold your breath in anticipation of me telling you what they are because there was no sign to label that particular section of apples, so we have no idea what they were.

So we just put them and our bag and I’ve been enjoying them every day since.

Apple Picking Season in Michigan. Beautiful Fall Color to See and a Covered Wagon Ride Into the Orchard This time of year we have to enjoy those rare days when the sun shines here in Michigan. I hate the transition from rain to snow, I would rather have just snow. The white drifts always make it look clean and fresh again outside. Michigan tends to go through a brown dead time for a spell and it get’s depressing for some, but apple pickin’ day was beautiful.

Beautiful post and photos as well. It’s getting more and more like winter here in Virginia also. Grayer skies with cooler winds. A change in seasons is a coming!

Thank you Diane yes our days are so short now and in Michigan we have very few sunnies days when winter arrives. We go 40 day in a row sometimes without seeing the sun.

What a beautiful day you had Dawn…we have lots of apple orchards here in Pennsylvania too…I like going to the ones in the Gettysburg area…It’s always fun to watch the migrant workers pick them…their arms move so fast you would think they were a machine…My favorite is Honeycrisp too Dawn..I would love to try that apple you found..I bet I would enjoy it too..Also..you can keep all the snow you want in Michigan..suits me just fine…lol..

Shirley I always think horses look sad, especially when all they get to do is walk the same path day after day 🙁
