Plaid Christmas Tree in a Log Home Done In Traditional Colors of Red, Gold, Silver, and Black The tree is decorated! If you remember this is my second attempt at a tree this year. The first tree had only half the light that worked, so I had to take it down and start over again with a different one. I decided to go with a traditional tree using red this year. I haven’t used red in forever, so I’m enjoying it again. Every year the tree and house has a different color theme, and to keep myself organized I use this method for my decorations. It always makes it much easier to grab what I’m looking for from year to year.

Plaid Christmas Entry Way in a Log Home Done In Traditional Colors of Red, Gold, Silver, and Black This is also the first year I placed the tree in front of the staircase, and I like it here it may be my new tree spot for upcoming years. I have to say decorating is so much easier with a pre-lit tree, adding the ribbon also takes up a lot of space so I used less ornaments this year. It also helps not having a 25 ft tree, this one is 7.5 ft.  I debated on whether to add the ribbon or not. I love how it looks in department stores, but wasn’t sure I could get the same look, but decided to give it a try. Wow, it’s so easy to do….I started at the top of the tree, tucked it into the branches as it went down, looped it around a bottom branch and started it back up the tree in the same fashion. I didn’t want to cut the ribbon, I wanted to save it to use another year or for other projects down the road.

Plaid Christmas Tree in a Log Home Done In Traditional Colors of Red, Gold, Silver, and Black I took about 20 minutes to decorate the whole tree this year. Amazing!!!! I was so happy with the results. It normally takes me hours to get the job done. I guess a much smaller tree, having it pre-lit, and taking up room with ribbon is a huge time saver. I’m definitely adding ribbon again next year.

I love how it turned out – so festive!! And so smart to keep the ribbon one length. I can’t even begin to imagine decorating a 25 ft. Christmas tree…lol.

Jen I can’t do the 25ft tree myself it required the whole family, but I’m happy with my shorter tree. BTW your snowflakes went out in today’s mail. Enjoy!

Hi Dawn. Just want to let you know I haven’t received them yet. I’m hoping they blow in with the expected week-end snowfall. I hope you’re keeping warm during these cold Michigan days. Looks like we’ll be seeing some warmer days this coming week. I’m definitely looking forward to that! Lol.

P.S. On the front of the envelope it is stamped “NON-MACHINEABLE” so I wonder if that’s why it took so long to get here.

I love your tree and all the pops of red. I can’t imagine a totally neutral Christmas really…I would have to have red someplace!

Ann Red isn’t my favorite color but it always seems to work with our cabin. I really like the year I used turquoise, rust, and blush. That was a beautiful color combination too.

I have a Christmas Tree board on Pinterest with hundreds of beautiful trees. Of course I had to Pin this one before reading your blog. Dawn, this tree is my favorite. My friends would call it a “Cheryl” tree. Lol! I love everything about it, red ornaments, plaid ribbon, galvanized container and buffalo checks.
    Thank You for your inspiration.

Kris I can’t figure out why I fight the red because I like it when I see pictures too but I seem to like the neutrals a little more right now. But I agree the red is perfect for Christmas.

Jeanie we are buried in snow right now, we had a strange blizzard yesterday at my place, lost power and everything. My dad lives in Jackson and didn’t get any of it.

Beautiful tree! And the red throughout the cabin just pops! I need to find a tub like that for next year–it’s still one of my favorite looks.

Denise I found the washtub around the corner from me, a lady had a small shop in her garage. I find buying one new at TSC is cheaper than a vintage one, so that’s where I’d start.
