Felt Ornaments

We’re having a party: a CHRISTMAS CRITTER ORNAMENT FELT ALONG party. Claudia from Mockingbird Hill Cottage and I decided to get a jump on making these adorable felt ornament in preparation for next year. I fell in love with all the darling felt ornaments all over Pinterest this Christmas season and thought a good way to keep myself on track and actually make the ornaments was to set a monthly goal and hold myself accountable, and what better way but to have you all join in with us.

We will post 2 patterns of these little critters at the beginning of the month, along with a material list. Then you will have time to gather the materials and assemble them, and at the end of the month we will host a linky party and we can all show off our cute as ever critters. Is anyone interested in felting along? I figured it would be a great way to not only make the ornaments but see how creative everyone is and by the time December rolled around again we would have 24 adorable ornament to keep for ourself or give as gifts. They are so fun and inexpensive to do…..and when I say inexpensive I mean you can make each ornament for under 20Β’.

We will be back January 8th to post the first 2 patterns for download and if you are near a craft store before they post you can gather some basic material that will work with every pattern. Felt colors of your choice, embroidery floss, needles, and ribbon (I used string) for hanging the ornament. You can also add a little fiber fill if you would like them to be puffy.

I hope you all join in, this is going to be great fun  πŸ™‚

Wow, those critters really are super cute! I’m thinking of making these and giving them to a special little one in my life next Christmas.

    • says

Sharon, that would be a wonderful gift. They would look so cute on a child’s size special tree. I think I will use mine on my kitchen tree for 2014.

  5. Lou Ann says

These are so very cute. And I love the fact that they are little critters and not the traditional variety. Also, thanks for the list of basic items. I am going to get some now, so when you post the patterns I can get right to work creating them.

    • says

Great Lou Ann, the first two pattern will be an owl and a bear if you would like to get colors that work for those critters.

  6. says

I love this and will keep popping back to see what you are both up to. I’m not going to commit to join in as I don’t want the pressure to keep up but hopefully I will make some as the year goes on.

I am so in on this! I love felt ornaments and try to make my daughters a special one to fit their interests each year. They’re both wildly into woodland creatures right now, and so am I. I wanted to have a few smaller trees around my home next year, instead of one big one, so I think I’ll design a whole tree around these sweet ornaments. I know, TMI. (I’m thinking out loud because I’m super excited!) It’s such a great idea, and so cool of you ladies to do it. Thanks!

    • Kathleen G says

I had the same idea! A small woodland tree for the cute ornaments. I have some felt ornaments my Mom made years ago for my tree.

      • says

Kathleen these ornaments would be perfect incorporated with the ones you Mom made. Great idea.

    • says

Laurel, you have the same idea as me. Decorate a whole tree with the woodland critters. I think making a set for your kids is perfect πŸ™‚

Linda, all great ideas and it will be fun to see how everyone is using them.

    • says

Ann I know how you feel about taking the time to do something you enjoy. I get mine all cut out and into a small container along with the pic of the final product and while hubby is driving I stitch away, I got to done just the other day that way πŸ™‚

Dawn what a great idea. I am always on the lookout for small handmade crafts I have made to give to my volunteers and co -workers for Christmas gifts. I think I have found my 2014 gifts.
