Rusty Yellow Toolbox Brimming with Color

Spring Viola

I just love my old yellow tool box, and the rust is the best part, or maybe the best part was the $1 price tag. Hm, I will have to think on that for a while. This toolbox can be seen all over my house and porches I never tire of seeing it no matter how I use it, but since it’s spring I thought as a flower planter was best.

Spring Viola

I do believe these sweet little Viol’s are pretty tolerant of the cold so they were a no brainer for me. Yes, we are expecting snow again. Do you hear a big sigh from me? Why does mother nature have to tease me with 60 degree days and then throw a snow day into the mix again. What the heck, I just broke out my flip flop stash.

Spring Viola

It was such a nice, bright, sunny day while I was planting it’s hard to believe snow is on it’s way again. I even have clothes on the line and windows open. I think the grass is even trying to green up a little.

Spring Viola

I guess I will just put up with what mother natures throws our way and pray it doesn’t last long. It’s baseball season and I hate to sit at a game and freeze. When I think of baseball I think of sunshine, sunglasses, and a tall cold drink.

I’ll just enjoy the nice day’s we’ve had and look forward to many more. Before you know it I will be complaining about how hot it is, and when I do remind me of the harsh winter we just left behind.

Kim, I know I purchased the only two they had and while I walked around looking at other things I had people trying to buy them from me.

Thank you Penney, they are sitting at my back door entrance and I love how they look every time I pass by.

Oh I love the color. It could not be more perfect! I am going to start outside next week getting things cleaned up and planted. Looking forward to it…

Ann, we still have such cold nights and spurts of snow here and there I don’t dare do any planting yet. You must have better weather there.

I have a similar wooden toolbox that hubby made many years ago, I’ve just never got around the planting it up. Yours looks lovely with those hardy violas. I also have an old metal fold out tool box that is destined to become a planter … hopefully this year ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, this is just a perfect container for those sweet violas. But snow? Seriously? My hubby’s family in Minnesota have had a harsh, snowy Winter as well. We just had un-seasonably warm temps this week, Summer temps, so I’ve actually been planting my containers. Rain is coming in this evening so I hope to get some things planted in the garden today.

Barbara, how nice to hear you are having warm temps. It was 45 yesterday here, not so nice. It has rained every day and some days it spits snow. I don’t think winter is giving up in my neck of the woods.

Gosh that’s pretty! I love the yellow and using unexpected containers as planters! I hope you stop by and join our garden party!

Dawn, I cannot believe that you’re expecting more snow. How can the guys see the bases? Geez! You really got a deal on those cute tool boxes and they look so pretty potted up with the violas. It has been so warm here that my violas are on their last leg and need to be pulled out! Before I started blogging, I just didn’t think much about regional differences in gardening!

Jane, from this point forward we will just get flurries (I hope). Same here I didn’t think of the weather conditions in the rest of the country. We almost have enough time for tomatoes to ripen, but how it’s going this year that may be iffy.

    Good Morning Dawn,
Ohhhhhh how cute is this. I love the yellow color. Just think hopefully in a few weeks we will actually be having some great flower garden weather. I cannot wait to get out in my garden and plant. After this harsh winter I cannot wait.
    Have a wonderful week end.

Kris, you must be getting nicer weather than us. So far it’s cold, windy, and rainy every day. I am really over it all by now and ready to see some sunshine and flowers.

A touch of Spring and you certainty deserve that after your long and harsh winter. We might hit the century mark here in Phoenix this weekend. Hopefully the snow is saying goodbye until Christmas!
