Sunflowers Pumpkins & Buffalo Checks | Creative Cain CabinI’m working on a little fall decorating. I feel like I have a pre-fall thing going on in my house. I still like to decorate with a  few of the lighter colors like yellow and turquoise before I bring in the rust and blacks. I swapped out the curtains, they were red and white for the last change. If you remember I decorated the living room and kitchen in an ice cream parlor theme for my sons graduation party. I do have to admit the red and white are my favorite but I was also ready for a change.

Sunflowers Pumpkins & Buffalo Checks | Creative Cain CabinI love the yellow and turquoise together against our rust colored logs. I can see this color being used all year long if need be. I picked the sunflowers from my garden, they were the ones that got a late start but seem to have caught up and are right on schedule for fall decorating.

Sunflowers | Yellow & Turquoise | Creative Cain CabinI did purchase the pumpkin, new this year from Hobby Lobby, where I used a coupon so it was only $5. I really like the reflective quality of it, it’s so shiny and pretty. I know I’m late on jumping on the turquoise decorating color but I finally have learned to love it. For the longest time I thought I couldn’t use that color in our home but wait till you see where all I am using it. You’ll have to come back for a full room view. I am swapping out my slipcovers, made new throw pillow, and topped it all off with new door wreaths. I can’t wait to show it all to you. How’s your fall decorating coming along?

I have a pumpkin like yours, but its dark green with brown. Your look has a late summer, early fall feel to it. Love the buffalo check curtains. Looking forward to your reveal. Have a beautiful day! Kathleen in Az

Kathleen, I bet the green and brown pumpkin is beautiful. I would have purchased that color combo if I would have seen it. I am leaning on more browns and grey for later fall.

Farn I purchase all my fabric from Fabric.com and make my own curtains. They have great prices, but keep checking back if you don’t see what you like they restock often.

    Hi Dawn,
I love those buffalo check yellow drapes. They are so pretty. I wish I could find that buffalo check in a lighter blue. Love that pattern.

The yellow and turquoise look great together! Fall decorating? I realized in cleaning out the office and stacking everything in the living room, I forgot to leave the boxes of Autumn decor where I could access them, poo. Then I realized there isn’t anything to decorate because of all the stuff in the living room form the office, haha! I do have some new fall potted flowers ready to go, however.

Barbara, I still need to pick up some mums for fall. I don’t have much for decorating, I just use the same stuff over and over. I hate to store it all so I always just reinvent it.
