Faux Christmas Mantel

I’m joining My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia to show off my Christmas Mantel.

I don’t have a true fireplace mantel, so this is my version on top of my tv cabinet.

As usual I like to decorate with natural element and reuse thing I already have.

The sap buckets I purchased at flea market this summer and they are the perfect size for holding small trees.

The pine cones I used in my Fall decor, and I just recycled them by throwing in a small scrap of ribbon left over from a previous project.

The mini bunting on the mirror was also a left over scrap of material from a summer project.

I made the snowflake garland.  I used vintage sheet music to punch the snowflakes from and glued them to a strand of twine.

The yellow tool box was purchased at a flea market and the blue canning jars were gathered from around the cabin.

I tied a gingham fabric scrap around the candle and called it good.

What do you use to decorate your Christmas Mantel?

What a lovely vignette on your tv cabinet. I love so many of the same elements and really like how you layered it all and pulled it together. It is fun playing with our stuff, no?

Love the little tree in the sap bucket with snowflakes. So sweet. And the pinecones with the wisp of red ribbon. Just perfect. I use pinecones in my decorating too. The toolbox with canning jars is clever. You set the scene beautifully, looks like a mantel even though it isn’t. Take care.

I love all of your color choices Dawn. That’s one area where I’m severely lacking. I just can’t seem to mix colors right. Your mantle looks so beautiful and festive. Love it!!

I’m so glad you told me about your mantel, I just love that rustic look (and again, that you used what you had). You’re very artistic to make those garlands, every detail of your mantel is perfect. Thanks again for sharing!

How do you think of all these things? The snowflake banner is so imaginative of you.

I’m practically convulsing over the gingham bunting, Dawn! I love it so much! And I just happened to pick up red gingham a few weeks back at Joann’s…will be making one (or more) of these pronto! 🙂 And I love all the layering and natural materials you’ve used here. The top of my TV armoire isn’t looking particularly Christmasy–I think I’ll take inspiration from you and do some fiddling this weekend. Are those mini trees real?
