Is It Spring Yet
I have a few things on my mind as I wait for spring to arrive and today I’m sharing what those things are!

Can you hear me over here rapping my fingers as I wait for spring? My heart is really longing for those warmer days when I can hang the laundry on the line again, for the smell of fresh cut grass, for the sweet sound of birds singing their songs, and time spent on the porch swept away reading a good book.

Weโve had a very mild winter this year, which makes me even hungrier for spring. February is always the month that Iโm over it all and ready to move on to a new season, new things, and something to actually blog about. It seems like I havenโt changed the house dรฉcor in forever and Iโm still not ready to do it.

I need to do a good spring cleaning, call the exterminator and have the cabin sprayed for flies outside, and then call my window washer to clean off all the spray the exterminator left behind. Sounds like a vicious cycle huh? My son pointed out a big cobweb hanging from the ceiling fan. I told him the window washer would get it when he comes to clean. So if you come over donโt look up if you donโt want to see it, LOL.

Right now my compost bin is full and froze shut so Iโve been dumping our compost on the snow-covered ground right beside the bin. Well you know what that means; Iโm now aiding in fattening up two stray cats and Iโve noticed theyโre sheltering under the chicken coop at night. I fear theyโll stick around now that Iโve lured them in. Iโve tired to get close but theyโre not the friendly type, YET.

Hubby will have a cow if he finds me trying to tame them. We are animal free right now and weโve decided at our age we donโt want the responsibility of inside animals anymore. I love having a dog and a cat but itโs much easier to travel when I donโt have to worry about finding someone to take care of pets while were gone.

Iโm telling you the older I get I sure do work at making my life simpler thatโs for sure. Speaking of simpler did you notice the linen dresses I have hanging on the line? They are some of my favorites and remind me of a simpler time. I put one on along with a cute straw hat and a pair of Mary Jane shoes and feel like it takes me back to the little house on the prairie days. I get looks from people when I wear them; some tell me how cute they are and others just stare but I donโt care I love them!

I wanted you all to know as of January I decided to quit scrolling social media feeds. I still have my accounts I just no longer use them. If you need to get a hold of me, please leave me a message here and Iโll get back to you. Iโve decided it was such a time sucker and I have plenty of other things to do than spend all day on my phone. I love keeping in touch with everyone so I made the choice to limit it to the blog and spend more time with my family. I hope you all understand and still stay in touch with me here from now on! Thanks for being understanding.

Gorgeous pictures Dawn. I totally understand. I to have stopped spending so much time on my phone and only read a few of my favorite blogs, yours being one of them. I cant believe how many hours I was spending a day on the phone instead of with my family. Time spent with your family is so much more important. Have a blessed day.
Judy, I know, the phone things is a time sucker for sure. It feels good to put it down and find other, more rewarding things to do. Ive been reading a lot and cleaning, lol.
Iโve quit the social media rabbit hole too. So much time being spent on โfluffโ wasnโt fun anymore. There are a few blogs I still read so please keep sending them since I look forward to reading what youโre up to. Plus no more pets. My little girl died just last month and although I miss her I love my freedom too. And western PA didnโt have a winter (didnโt even need the snowblower) so bring on spring! I have projects I want to start! Have a great dat Dawn.
Barb, Oh I’m so sorry to hear your pet died. It’s so heartbreaking for sure and takes adjustment getting used to them not being around ๐ Our winter has been mild too but is hanging on forever. My spring list is getting long and Im itching to get outside and get some of it done. I will continue to post here twice a week but the social media things is over for me for now. It may change someday but right now it’s not for me. Thanks for understanding my friend.
I loved our mild Michigan weather this winter as I am a summer gal! I can’t wait to get outside and start planting flowers, ect!!
Jeanie, yes it was mild but for some reason it just keeps hanging on. I’m ready for spring!
Hi Dawn. I love your linen dresses and of course I’m going to ask “where to find them?” I’m enjoying spring-like weather, sunny and 60 degrees, walking outside weather, here at my in-laws in Kansas. Green leaves are poking out in the flower beds now but I don’t know what they are…maybe daffodils. My hubby and I live in the Colorado mountains and still have 3 feet of snow on the ground and twice as much in-between the house and garage caused by the snow falling off both roofs. I am looking forward to springtime in the Rockies, even though I cannot keep any flowers outside until after Father’s Day!!
Cyndi, I purchase from this seller on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/SWEETBEARIESVINTAGE She’s great to deal with and is in the US. Your weather sounds like ours. Finally our snow has all melted and I have a load of laundry on the line today, it’s supposed to be 50 degrees at some point today.
Hi Dawn! I totally agree with your new social media policy! On Facebook I have disconnected from nearly everything other than baby horse, hippo and elephant sites! Haha! Bring a smile to my face or be gone! I love your blog. Thank you for writing. You have inspired so many ideas in me and I hope to implement them someday. Right now I am just a working slob in suburban Chicago but I can dream of a simpler and quieter time. Have a wonderful day! Hello Spring!
I love your porch. I wish I were sitting there.
