Reversible PillowCase | Farmhouse Style | Cottage Style | Vintage Fabric | Shabby Chic | CreativeCainCabin.comAre you ever just in the mood to sew? Well I have been for quite some time, but it always seems like something else comes up and my sewing project get’s put on the back burner. Well I was determined this week, while hubby was out of town, to enjoy myself and make a few Reversible Pillowcases for the master bedroom.

Reversible PillowCase | Farmhouse Style | Cottage Style | Vintage Fabric | Shabby Chic | CreativeCainCabin.comI’ve seen several different varieties all over Pinterest so I just had to narrow it down to what I liked best, what I had time for, and what worked with the fabric I had on hand.

Reversible PillowCase | Farmhouse Style | Cottage Style | Vintage Fabric | Shabby Chic | CreativeCainCabin.comI have to admit I could become addicted to purchasing fabric, so I have to hold myself back. It’s so beautiful I just want it all. I’ve learned over time to only purchase if I have an actual project in mind. If I don’t handle it that way I would be overrun with pretty fat quarters and yardage everywhere. It’s sorta like chocolate to me….once I start I can’t stop.

My creativity was sparked when I received my new Farm Girl Vintage book in the mail. The pages are so yummy that I get lost in all the prettiness. I even took the book to bed with me and looked it over again, with my flashlight on, it just makes my heart happy to see all the different farmhouse quilt squares.

Reversible PillowCase | Farmhouse Style | Cottage Style | Vintage Fabric | Shabby Chic | CreativeCainCabin.comI knew I wanted the pillowcases to have a vintage look to them, so I paired fabric together until I came up with the perfect color combination for each case. I do have to admit with making them reversible it makes for a pricey pillow case.

Reversible PillowCase | Farmhouse Style | Cottage Style | Vintage Fabric | Shabby Chic | CreativeCainCabin.comEach case takes 2 yards, one pattern outside and one pattern inside, as well as decorative trim. The trim doesn’t have to be used but I feel it gives it that vintage farmhouse feel I was going for. So by the time I was done each pillowcase came to about $22. Wow, that seems high but they are beautiful and I have to figure I’m getting 2 looks from each pillowcase.

Reversible PillowCase | Farmhouse Style | Cottage Style | Vintage Fabric | Shabby Chic | CreativeCainCabin.comI never see good deals on quality quilting fabric, so I just have to be selective when I do buy. I did limit myself to making 4 pillowcases, the amount of pillows we have on our bed. I will keep the king size pillows in white just because I like the look and contrast against the quilt.

Reversible PillowCase | Farmhouse Style | Cottage Style | Vintage Fabric | Shabby Chic | CreativeCainCabin.comIf you’re looking for a tutorial, I modified this one to suit my needs, but you really can make your own up. After all it’s only a rectangle you can hardly go wrong. It makes me happy to crawl into bed everynight now. I wish I had someone to make some for, they’re quite fun and addictive, but at this time I don’t. So I will remember this when I need a gift in the future.

I am a fabric nut as well and I usually get into the mood to sew when it is cold and rainy or snowy out. I put on some old Doris Day movies and let them play while I sew the day away. I love how these turned out! So cute and the combos work perfect.

Pam I was thinking a good quilting project for this winter. I’ve always wanted to hand quilt and need to take the time to do it.

Becky they would be great gifts for that. I think making a kid a blanket and a pillowcase could be the storage for the blanket would be cute too.

Suggestion: follow a quarterly holiday or seasonal theme for the cases. Spring, easter, valentines day, etc. Makes great gifts.

These turned out so lovely. Thanks for referring to my tutorial as well. I agree, it isn’t the most frugal way to make a pillowcase, but it is a fun one! Love your fabric selections.

I was looking for reversible pillow cases as I have 3 teen granddaughters, all with varying stages of adolescent acne. I read that changing your pillowcase every night or so will keep your face cleaner and prevent inflammation of the black heads. So hopefully this will save my daughters-in-law the trouble of washing so many pillowcases by doubling up. Your cases are adorable. Now I have one of their Christmas gifts figured out! I’m even going to try this with our 5yr old grandson—cars on one side and dinasaurs on the other.

Sue that’s wonderful I hope everyone enjoys them. Have you ever tried using Norwex face cloths for the acne? They will do the trick for sure!
