Rustic Winter Table – Nature Inspired and Easy

As we near the Christmas season Michigan has been blanketed in snow at times and we’ve also had spring like days yet I feel the need to do some winter decorating this year instead of Christmas decorating.
Every year I haul the totes from the basement and decide on the look I’m going for. This year I decided I didn’t want to bother with all the decorating. It’s so much work to put it all up only to turn around and take it all down again.

So this year I decided to decorate strictly with items that could be Christmas but would carry me through the entire winter season. My most used go to is pine clippings and pine cones.
Just a reminder today is the day Jennifer gets us all together as part of her cozy living series and the links below have more ideas for you to enjoy!

Both can be found on our country property and when a nice day comes along I grab my little red wagon and my clippers and off I go trimming the pine and collecting the cones. The only areas I decided to decorate this years so far has been the porch and the dining room.

I used my deer plates on the table. I like how they feel right at home in our cabin and can be made to fit any season. I used wooden chargers, my families vintage silver flatware, a big bowl of pine cones, and mini bottles of pine clippings.

The look can work for Christmas as well as all winter long. I’m really enjoying having a simple look this year and I haven’t missed dragging out all the Christmas decor one little bit.

Dawn, this is so sweet! Love how it can work all winter long!
Such a pretty setting. I love one that is great for company or every day and this is perfect.
I love how sometimes the smaller items from nature have the biggest impact in our holiday decor. I hope you are enjoying the holiday season
Happy Wintering, Dawn. I really love the winter rather than Christmas theme. We recently moved from the California Sierras to the heartland in Wichita, Kansas. I had every intention of doing a lot more decorating this year, as I have closed my tea shop and the wellness center and retired. However, while in our “transition home,” we found a house to buy in a rural area 30 miles south of the city and we are in escrow. We’re supposed to close sometime around Christmas… so no decorating for me. Therefore, the simple winter theme will replace my big Christmas decorating plans. Thanks for the ideas. So pretty. If escrow closes before Christmas, packing up quickly won’t be so hard. Have a lovely winter season!
You’ve inspired me to not look into any more bins and go outside to find pine cones. And your table setting is something to use during the week and not just for company. Thanks for the ideas. Also wanted to say I love the watercolor of your cabin on the top of the page. Awesome!
I love the simplicity of a bowl of gathered pinecones.
Oh, I just LOVE how cozy your home feels Dawn! Such a lovely holiday table, those plates are adorable!
