Early Spring Porch Decorating Using Neutrals with a Pop of Green. Pottery Barn Bunny Pillow Knockoff. Neutral Pillows From Walmart, Better Homes and Garden Line. How To Make a Porch Feel Like Spring Even Before Things Are Blooming

I hate to even mention this word, snow, but the mitten state looks like it’s going to get more tonight. Say what? I just thought it was safe to bring out a few spring decor pieces and add them to the front porch. I know better, Michigan always get’s one more snow day always in April. Luckily I didn’t do much decorating.

I added the neutral pillows in black, tan and white back to the furniture and for Spring and Easter my Pottery Barn knockoff bunny pillow (tutorial and stencil can be found here to make one of your own), and faux forsythia to a bright green lantern. So far that’s the extent of my outdoor spring decorating.

I’m so anxious to get my ferns purchased (be watching Home Depot ads they’ll have $5 ferns any day now and that’s when I’ll stock up) and add them to the decks. I’m really looking forward to decorating our fire pit area since it’s a new place for me I’ll have another space to make look pretty. I can’t wait for warmer nights with the fire going with my hubby and boys around it talking late into the night. It’s funny how a fire pit brings a family together.

Did you happen to notice in one of the pics my pumpkin seedlings? I planted them 2 weeks ago and every seed germinated. Happy dance here! On the days when the sun is out and above 40 degrees I’ve been taking them out onto the porch to let them soak up a little sunshine and harden them off.

The only other thing I’m planning for vegetables this year is tomatoes. I’ll purchase to already established plants and put them in pots on my deck (where the deer can’t get). I think I’ll do one yellow cherry plant and one plant for sandwich slicers.

My hubby loves home grown tomatoes and the last few years I’ve purchased them from the farmers market but I’m in the mood to have my own plants again this year. I used to plant enough to can every year but I’m too old and lazy anymore, lol.

I’ve realized with age I tend to go for what’s easier, nothing like in my younger years. If you notice my deck decorating even if more minimal than past years. I may get in the mood to do more but right now what you see is it.

I’ve done some setup on my deck, too – also simply done. I’m looking forward to adding some real flowers once it warms up.
    Your pumpkin seedlings look adorable!

Ivory thank you, you’d never know it’s spring in my neck of the woods we’re still getting snow here but I’m trying to coax it along with a little spring decorating.

We have a long way to go until spring in my neck of the woods, but I do have some spring bulbs I’ve been forcing in my kitchen, and also lots of seeds started in my utility room! 12 days until we change the clocks, woo hoo!!!
