How To Customize A Flagpole To Match Your Homes Exterior
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN SOMETHING JUST ISN’T THE RIGHT COLOR FOR YOUR HOME? YOU UPDATE IT WITH SPRAY PAINT TO MATCH YOUR HOMES EXTERIOR, AND THAT’S JUST WHAT I DID WITH MY FLAG POLE!
I finally got another project knocked off my to do list this week. I’ve been wanting to get my deck mounted flag pole up but need to give it a little update by making it match our homes exterior first.
The only color flag pole I could find locally was a light bleached wood tone and against our dark house exterior it stood out like a sore thumb. Rather than buy a new one I decided to update what I had with spray paint.
I first tried to stain the wooden pole to match our logs but the wood wasn’t porous at all it must have had a slick clear coat on it so I wiped that off and went to plan “B”, spray paint.
I looked through my stash and decided to use an oil rubbed bronze color but realized I didn’t have enough so as a base coat I use flat back and for the second coat I use the oil rubbed bronze. I also only painted the exposed portion of the pole and the fixture that holds the flag in place, the part that’s hidden under the flag is still the original light wood tone. I figured there was no use in painting the portion that couldn’t be seen.
Once it was all dry I got out my handy dandy cordless drill and added it to the front porch. I just love ticking another project off my to do list. BTW the App I use to keep myself organized is called “Any.do”, whenever I think of a chore or task that needs to be done I add it to my phone and when I have a few free minutes I tackle one of the tasks.
I just want to tell you how much I enjoy seeing your home. Love lots of your ideas, and so enjoy that you take on tasks all by yourself. I think your hair is beautiful (makes me jealous) :), and would love to have it. Really like your bird houses. What a great find. Thank you for sharing and inspiring!
