How To Remove Campfire Smell From Clothes
THE BEST METHOD I’VE FOUND FOR REMOVING THE SMELL OF CAMPFIRE SMOKE FROM GOOD CLOTHING THAT YOU DON’T WANT TO WASH OFTEN OR AT ALL. NO MORE DRY CLEANING HERE’S A CHEAP FIX TO RID YOUR FINE WEARABLES OF THE ODOR!
Since our fire pit has been in there’s been many a night that we all come in smelling like we’ve rolled in the ashes from a campfire. I’m sure the men in our home don’t care but I do! I tend to sit around the fire in whatever I’ve had on that day, and sometimes that’s a down coat, or good clothing that I don’t want washed over and over again and most of the time the smoke smell doesn’t come out with regular washing anyway.
Many times time we’ve been invited to friends homes and sit around their fire and I’m always dressed, no sweatpants for me, lol. Even around a bonfire I find a way to be stylish.
When it was warm weather I could hang the items on the porch and air them out overnight to remove the smell but now that it’s winter I had to find another method. After googling it and trying several ways the method I found that works best is:
- Hang each item inside out on it’s own hanger on a tension rod inside the bathtub.
- Fill a spray mister with Vodka (buy cheap)
- Mist the clothing (don’t saturate) and let them air dry.
- The alcohol removes the odors.
No more dry cleaning those expensive fabrics and it takes no time at all to get the job done, plus it’s super cheap!
Very interesting..thanks …
Jeanie you are welcome!

Ruthdiana, thanks for stopping and taking the time to comment.
Alcohol is the ingredient in Fabreze spray that removes household (and others such as campfire) from clothing – just in case you don’t want to buy vodka. However, in my house, I have vodka AND Fabreze, each for a different reason. ๐
Lol , who knew ?
often I wonโt go sit outside around the fire pit because I donโt like the smell on my clothes . wait until I tell my husband ! ๐
