Spring Cabin Living Room Tour 2020

Happy Easter! I’m getting my post out late today I’m all messed up with what day it is. Being in a lockdown situation has me all messed up; anyone else having the same situation?

On a brighter note before all this virus stuff happened I’d ordered a cheery yellow sunflower pillow from Amazon hoping to liven up the cabin and make it feel a little more like spring.

That one little pillow cover got me motivated and I swapped out the living room curtains to some that were in my stash. Honestly I don’t even remember having them or what room I may have used them in in the past. Maybe if I look back through some old posts I’ll find them but any way into the living room they went and down came the black and white gingham curtains.

I also did away with the rest of the black and white winter pillows and lightened things up using blue, green, and a pop of yellow here and there. I had the picture frame in yellow and the faux potted yellow flowers. So for just a few bucks I have a new spring look.

It’s amazing how swapping out a few items makes the place look fresh again and sure made my mood a little better. I think all the dark color of winter were weighing me down and was making the place feel dreary but not so much anymore.

I also moved my computer into a corner in the living room temporarily and as you can see the mess on my desks there for you all to see. Then I added some of my favorite garden hats on the wall to take up the space. I’m a hat girl and wear one anytime I’m outside and the suns out.

Keep coming back I’ll be sharing the Spring Kitchen Tour next along with a few garden post, a recipe, and an update on the chickens.
TO MY REGULAR READERS: ANYTHING YOU SEE IN THE GREEN BOXES WILL BE MY DAILY UPDATE DURING THE VIRUS! Please leave a comment and fill me in on what you’re doing. God Bless you all!
Wednesday April 8: The sun is shining and I have the windows open getting a good dose of fresh air. It’s noon now and I’ve already made quite the mess. I picked up a quart of chalk paint to paint the dining room table with. It’s been on my to do list for quite some time and with all the time on my hands it’s the perfect opportunity.
Well I went to open the vitamin drawer (btw during this virus deal I’ve upped my vitamin C intake and added D-3 to my routine) and knocked the paint off the counter onto the floor. Wouldn’t you know it; the lid popped off and over half of the paint splattered over the cupboard, of course all over the floor, and on my new jeans and my favorite shirt. I quickly threw the paint can outside while I smeared the rest of it around on the floor trying to clean it up. Fortunately I got most of it up after several times of mopping. The only spot I can still see is in the cracks of the wooden floors. Hopefully with a little sand paper I can clean it out of the crack once its completely dry.
After that fiasco I made a batch of tuna noodle casserole for dinner and while it baked my DIL and I took a 5-mile bike ride. Boy it’s nice to be outside again. I’m not looking forward to the rain and snowy mix that’s coming tomorrow.
Thursday April 9: Wow woke up to a blustery day. We’ve had a little rain, a sleet snow mixture, high winds, sunshine, big dark clouds and cold temps. So much for trying to ride my bike today so instead my DIL and I went to pick up our chick order. The last few laying hens finally arrived.
I went to bed with a slight runny nose and of course I panicked and started Goggling the symptoms of Covid-19 and didn’t sleep a wink. Michigan is having pollen alerts everyday so I’m hoping all the time I’ve been spending outside is just a slight allergy and runny nose.
Friday April 10: Woke up and felt fine other than I’m extremely dizzy, so I’m assuming I have a slight head cold. I’ve upped my Vitamin C dosage and also my Elderberry Syrup dosage in hopes of fighting it off before it becomes full blown.
Well after telling a friend that’s a nutritionist how I was feeling, she asked me if I was taking Vitamin D-3 and I said yes I just started. She informed me I was allergic to it and was having a reaction so quite taking it. She was right, I quit it and all my strange symptoms went away. On top of feeling like I was allergies I also started itching inside, having chest pains, and confusion. All side effects apparently. Wow that stuff was scary.

Happy Easter! Must have been the week for tuna casserole and allergies cause it’s the same here. Chair upholstery coming along fine. Two staples in, five out but progress is being made on it so that will be another craft project completed. Hubby bought me an elevated raised garden. Hoping to plant lettuce this week. Other then cleaning and laundry it’s the same old, same old. I’m ready for a fun summer painting project. Soon. Just gotta hang in there………
Barb, great minds think alike when it comes to recipes 🙂 I’m so glad your chair is coming along. That’s quite a project and not one I’ve ever tried to tackle. I’d love too but it intimidates me. You’ll love the raided beds it’s so much easier to maintain and it always looks neat and tidy too. It snowed again a little this morning so apparently spring is on the back burner again for the next week.
Dawn, I could just pop right in and sit on the recliner ! Your home is so relaxing !
Kathy, well thank you 🙂 It sure would be nice to have a little company right now too!
Dawn,
Where do you find your pillows? Do you reuse your inserts and just pop on a new cover?
Annette, yes I just buy new covers when I can and swap them onto the original pillow form. The white pillow is from TJMax, the green rosette pillow and the blue pillow is from Hobby Lobby, the yellow is from Amazon, and the multi colored is from Meijers. All are pillow covers except the multi colored.
Thank Dawn! I also live in a log cabin in Northern Ohio that was built 80s. We have just started our family and I am still trying to find my decorating style. Thank you for all your ideas- I love them all! I love this color combo that could easily take me through late summer/fall!
Annette, I find our cabin a very hard home to decorate. I’m not much into the lodge looks and I feel that’s what most log cabins are decorated in. If I could get hubby to go along with me I’d paint the interior walls white and paint the wood floors too. I don’t even dare mention it or he’ll drop over with a heart-attack.
Love the little black and white stool. I had one just like it for a while, so I covered it with a bright fabric for spring. I just put the fabric over the seat and stapled underneath. Your room is beautiful.
