Under Deck Garden Supply Storage

HERE’S A GREAT WAY TO USE THAT HIDDEN STORAGE SPACE BELOW A SECOND STORY DECK. ENCLOSE IT WITH LATTICE, ADD A SET OF DOUBLE DOORS, AND HIDE ALL YOUR GARDEN GADGETS INSIDE. OUT OF SIGHT AND IT LOOKS SO TIDY!

Yes, another project that’s been wound up outside around the stamped concrete patio area. I just couldn’t leave things alone and looking at the unfinished underside of the second story deck just wasn’t going to happen.

Since hubby had the time and went along with another one of my hair brained schemes he made me happy by enclosing the deck and turning it into garden supply storage for me.

We have a barn on the property but it’s not near the cabin (it’s on the guest house part of the property) so when I want something it’s never convenient to get at. I normally have to drive to get what I need.

I don’t keep many things at the cabin just my galvanized buckets that I decorate with year round, my gas cans for the lawn mower, my garden cart, a few garden tools, and the hanging baskets I replant every year.

Years ago hubby brought me a large crate home and I’ve used it for years to store all my garden supplies in and it’s always been near my raised garden beds. Well not any more it’s now hiding under the deck where it looks much neater and I’m happy to have it out of the way.

As you can see the double door area is big enough for hubby to drive our bobcat into which is nice that means I can walk in upright and not have to worry about hitting my head.

For this year I just put all those things I’m hiding in there quickly. Once spring rolls around I may decide to organize it better but the weather was turning cold quickly and I was ready to be done with everything for the season.

Wood Pile for Fire Pit

Next up I’ll be sharing with you our fire pit so stay tuned for that. I’ve just been waiting for a day that it didn’t rain to take a few photos.

Fire Pit Area

Our nice neighbor John heard through the grapevine that we put in a fire pit so he came driving his dump bed gator down with this lovely pile of wood for us. Isn’t it beautiful? Thanks John that was so nice of you, and we’ve been enjoying it. There’s something about a nicely stacked woodpile that I just love to look at.

    1. Kathleen I’m hoping to still use the fire pit over the fall and winter months if I can stand the cold and get the fire warm enough.

That’s Awesome Dawn ! I love the double doors. I would have loved to do something like that under our large deck but we have 2 huge picture windows from the lower level right there. There is something so cozy and calming as a pile of wood, totally agree. Your bobcat looks too dang handy. We have a backhoe but that bobcat looks like fun 🙂

    1. Cheryl, it blocks two of our windows also but it was worth it to have the storage space and not have to look at the ugly under side of the deck.
