I HIT MY FAVORITE SALE OF THE YEAR OVER THE WEEKEND AND PURCHASED NEW JUNK BIRDHOUSE GAREN ART TO ADD TO THE LANDSCAPING AT THE CABIN!

I’ve been waiting all season for a friend of ours to have their annual garden art sale. Not only does he make amazing things, the prices are dirt cheap. I never knew how he could make and sell things at such a low cost until I started talking with him and told him I thought for his talent he was under charging for his things, he makes everything from free or almost free things.

After he retired he went to work for an auctioneer, and he salvages things people don’t buy or get left behind from the auction and turns them into works of art. He makes mostly outside items like birdhouses, garden gates, garden stools, and metal sculptures but he also uses the salvaged lumber to make inside tables of all sizes.

Every year I have my heart set on birdhouses, in my opinion you can never have too many. I love watching the birds stuff their material into each little hole until it’s bulging with a perfectly made nest. Bird watching is very peaceful to me and they really are quite funny in the things they do. Just last night I sat out on the deck just before dark and watched a baby bunny and a woodpecker take a dust bath in the same sandy area.

The sale runs most often the last weekend in June and I’m always anxious to be one of the first to be there, things go quickly. Last year I purchased a big birdhouse on a ladder but took it all apart and used the birdhouse on a 6X6 that was originally used as part of my close-line and I moved the farmhouse ladder into the house to use as a blanket rack. I may do the same this time, and remove one of the houses from the shutter and use it in a different way.

So here’s the shocker, I purchased everything you see for $70, amazing right? And there’s nothing better than giving my money to a local crafter that enjoys what they do. Now to get my wheels turning and figure out where to put them all.

You got some great pieces! Does he have a shop that is open all of the time of does he just sell once a year out of his house? And how do you hear about the sale?
