This is a monthly series where I catch up on what my everyday life is like outside the blog. I share some not so pretty photos, some of life’s ups, some of life’s downs, but overall it’s a spot where I can be me and connect with my readers. I’m so happy you are hear and your comments keep me encouraged to carry on. So lets get started with what I’ve been up to.
Another month gone by and not much has been happening. I haven’t been able to post for the last 10 days because my computer conked out. I was working on it, got up to get a cup of iced coffee, and sat back down to a black screen. I tried everything to revive it but no luck. I had to make an appointment at the Apple store, drive an hour one way, to find out the hard drive was fine but the LED screen was gone. It was to old to fix so I ended up buying two new Mac’s and started my hour drive home again.
By the time I got home it was 3 in the afternoon and I hadn’t had anything to eat all day. I made myself a quick meal then started to unpack the new computers only to find out they had given me the wrong cords for them. Totally frustrated I had to make another appointment, haul everything back, just to get the right cords and drive home again.
What an exhausting day and I certainly didn’t feel like I’d got anything accomplished. The first thing I had to do was get our business back up and running. Luckily I’ve been in this position before and years ago I started keeping everything on an external drive. All I had to do was plug it into the new computer and all our business dealings were there. Now I’m thankful I was smart enough to do things that way or I would have been in a real pickle.
The second computer I purchased was strictly for my blog, and since none of my photo editing things were loaded on the new computer I haven’t been able to post. Our internet is so horrible here I couldn’t add Photoshop back to the computer so I’m taking it with me tomorrow when I work at church and they’re gracious enough to let me use the internet there to do all the updates and downloads I need.
I also got an email this week saying the internet service we use will no longer be available on July 1st and it’s not being replace with anything. If you’ve followed me for long you know the struggles I’ve had with internet. Nothing is available here in the country and what I can get I pay top dollar for. At one point we were paying $1,000 a month or it. The current plan I have is $430 a month. Both are way to expensive but it’s all there is.
While I was setting up our business account with Apple, my team coordinator asked me if I’d ever heard of Starlink the satellite internet that was launched recently by Elon Musk. Well I hadn’t so I started researching it and ended up ordering the dish. The cost for that was just under $600 and the monthly bill will be $99, so if it works it will be a great savings to us. It said 4-6 weeks for us to get the equipment so that should give me time to see how well it works before the other is no longer working.
Our weather here is warm for a few days then cools off for a few but I was able to get outside and plant my peas. Hubby also added 5 new raised beds to my garden and I’m looking forward to the extra planting room (I’ll be back to share that with you soon). I have 144 tomato plants and 72 pepper plants growing in the house and I plan on up-potting them this weekend also.
I can’t wait for the weather to get a little warmer and a lot less windy so I can sit on the front porch and read. It’s something I’m really looking forward to. Right now I’d be blown away if I try. My laundry takes minutes to dry on the line and just yesterday I had to chase a bed sheet across the lawn. Not sure how clean it is after it tumbled through the yard, but I called it good and made my bed with it anyway. It sure felt crisp and clean and I love how it smells after drying in the fresh air.
Thank you everyone for taking the time to chat with me today! God Bless 🙂
