Turn an old galvanized chicken feeder into a flower planter, add clay terra cotta pots and candles for a romantic summers nightWhat do you do when your bestie gives you a vintage galvanized chicken feeder? Turn it into an outdoor flower planter to use on the covered porch this summer.

Turn an old galvanized chicken feeder into a flower planter, add clay terra cotta pots and candles for ambiance. Use and old shipping crate as a rustic coffee tableAnd look, I lucked out she also gave me an old shipping crate to use as a coffee table. Her mom gets them from work and she was nice enough to let me have one. I’m still debating on adding casters to the bottom, but for now it’s working out just as it is.

Turn an old galvanized chicken feeder into an outdoor container garden, add terra cotta pots and candles for a romantic feelI headed to the nursery to pick up the plants I wanted to use in the feeder. I knew exactly what I was looking for, it was what I have planted but in white. Well wouldn’t you know it I could only find purple so purple it is.

Use and old shipping crate as a rustic coffee tableMy summer porch contains purple and white flowers this year. I let price dictate what I purchased, and I’m very happy with my choices. I couldn’t believe the second week of May our local Lowes store was already putting flowers on clearance.

Chicken Feeder PlanterI found that very odd, but was happy to grab the discounted plants. I normally have a budget of $100 per summer for flowers, potting soil, and mulch, and this year I only spent $50 with all the great bargains I found.

Turn an old galvanized chicken feeder into a flower planterBy adding the tiny terra cotta pots and candles it sure makes for a nice look in the evening when I’m sitting on the porch reading a book on my iPad. It warms up the feel and I think it looks nice even in the day time without the candles lit.

Turn an old galvanized chicken feeder into a flower planter, add clay terra cotta pots and candles for ambiance. Use and old shipping crate as a rustic coffee tableI’m using the same pillows as I used last summer on the furniture. I can’t believe I’m using them for two seasons in a row, but I’m still in love with the black and tan so why make changes? Maybe I’m feeling a little lazy, who knows.

Chicken Feeder Planter I’ll be back soon to show you the rest of the purple flowers I’m using on both porches. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone and enjoy the nice weather we’re having.

I love it, Dawn!! And the crate table, too. Great shopping. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of your flowers. I guess I’d better get to the store before all the flowers are gone!

Jen I just hit another sale at Lowes on Sunday, 4 more big rolling racks of clearance flowers. I can’t believe they’re doing it so early.

The crate makes a great table and the chicken feeder looks like it belongs there.

Just love the chicken feeder! The shipping crate is awesome too! What a great friend you have. Super hot here in Missouri 90 degrees worth. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Debbie it was 83 at our place on Sunday but only 70 here today. I have to remember it’s early June here and we shouldn’t be having temps this warm yet.

I love the chicken feeder planter, Dawn! It looks great on the crate table. I’ve been a little lazy about getting our front porch decorated for summer. I moved a rug out there and then decided that I didn’t like to colors for summer. But have I put a different rug out there? Why, no because it’s already summer!

Jane, I sure don’t decorate or plant like I used to I just don’t like all the work involved so why do it.

I love it! I have an old chicken feeder in my flower bed. But it’s empty. Lol. I really like how the tiny flowers look in it. I would love to find a couple neat chairs and a unique table for my front porch. Right now it seems I never have time to sit out there and relax; hoping someday soon.
