Today I’m joining Debbie
for her Copy Cat Challenge
That’s where you find inspiration from a magazine or other blogger’s and create your own look.  Pretty nifty idea don’t you think?
My inspiration came from Patty @ Lemon Lane Cottage.
I just love her craft room and wanted to try something similar in my home office.
Hubby and I built the 10ft. desk some time back and I was in the mood to brighten in up and make it look less office like.
I purchased this snap together storage rack from Target and filled it with the things I need to get to and use everyday.  The bins came from garage sales and thrift stores.
The lamp was purchased at a garage sale, it had a black base and a black shade.  I ripped the fabric from the shade and with just the frame tied fabric scraps onto it, and gave the base a coat of red spray paint.
I hit Ikea for the white storage buckets on the rail system and each of my boys have a section of the hanging file holder that came from TJMaxx.
Map artwork from Ikea, comes in handy when the kids do homework.  I also thrifted that huge wire basket and use it to hold all my spray paint.
The polka-dot oil cloth that covers the desk came from Walmart, and I use a three tiered tray to hold paper clips, cd’s, and battery chargers.
The gingham skirt fabric came from Walmart, I just used dowels and hooks to attach it to the bottom of the desk.  The red chairs are also Ikea and the green work table was thrifted and painted with ASCP in Antibes Green.
My office space is now a funner place to work. And thanks to Patty

for letting me copy your space:)

Awesome idea. I love great tips when it comes to organizing and still reuse materials or container that are already in the house. It’s a great way to recycle. It seems with kids at home, you can never have enough containers for everything. Love the skirt sheet idea 🙂

I don’t know how I missed this office post, Dawn, but I’m glad I was looking back through your blog (for some fun colour inspiration) and came across it. Your office space is so well organized and looks like a great spot to work or craft. I use one of our small bedrooms as a craft space but we have our computer/office area in the end of our family room. I’m considering using a farm table instead of the little table we are currently using.
