I’VE ADDED A LITTLE DECOR AND LANDSCAPING AROUND THE GARDEN SHED ONCE TOY SHED WITH THINGS FROM AROUND THE HOUSE. IT’S A SIMPLE WAY TO GIVE IT A LITTLE PERSONALITY AND I LOVE HAVING ANOTHER SURFACE TO DECORATE!
Yes, I’m finally done adding a little farmhouse decor to the outside of my garden shed that was once my sons toy shed (you can read about that here). I’m not quite sure it’s exactly the way I’d like it, but it works for now. I didn’t want to purchase anything to hang on the shed so I worked with things I had around the house, all but the sign I made it especially for the shed.
Since the area is dark near the woods and doesn’t receive a full days sunlight I decided to go with pops of yellow in the black-eyed susan perennials, the red ornamental grass, and bright green hostas to give the area a little color. Hubby move all the big rocks in for me with the bobcat and then we placed the smaller ones in by hand. The rocks look small but some of them are still mighty heavy.
The landscaped area is a the bottom of a hill so I didn’t want to add any grass seed to the area. I knew if I did and we got a heavy rain it would all was inside the rock boarder and I’d have a heck of a mess on my hands trying to get rid of all the grass. So my plan is to just let it fill in naturally and then I’ll be able to mow that area.
I did end up trimming the trees around the shed back a little further (thanks for that suggestion everyone) at least the ones I could reach. If it starts to fill in again in the spring I’ll have hubby take the chain saw to them, all I had was my hand saw to get the job done.
I started over the weekend, between working on my sons place, taking all the spring and summer colored flowers out of our landscaping and replacing them with mums and fall colored flowers. It’s the first year I’ve totally gutted my flowers and started over and I think I like the look. It puts me in the mood for bonfires, hearty stews, and fall temperatures.
I know I owe you a Talk Till Dawn episode and I am working on it. I’ve been so busy at work and then every spare second I have I’ve been at my sons house helping him do his barn to house conversion (I can’t wait to share it with you). Have a wonderful Sunday everyone and thanks for stopping by!
Looks great Dawn!
Dawn,
Thanks for the decorating ideas for the shed. We just got shed and now that we’ve painted it, it is time to decorate it!
Love the look!!
Hi Dawn! We’re getting another shed either later this year or early next year. I’ve pinned this for future reference. 🙂 Love your “shed landscaping”!
Love it! I agree, Jennifer @ T&C, publish-worthy!
Super cute, love the pops of yellow.
